A FLOOD WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL FRIDAY MAY 15 FOR THE ZUMBRO, MIDDLE FORK WHITEWATER RIVER, CASCADE CREEK, ROOT RIVER, MINNESOTA RIVER, CANNON RIVER, STRAIGHT RIVER, CEDAR RIVER AND THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER BETWEEN RED WING AND LACROSSE.rdr1

FORECAST RAINFALL AMOUNTS FOR SOUTHEASTERN MINNESOTA AREA ARE FOR ONE INCH TONIGHT…ONE TO TWO INCHES TUESDAY…AND TWO TO THREE INCHES WEDNESDAY. RIVERS ARE EXPECTED TO RISE AS THE GROUND IS AREADY SATURATED FROM THE ROUND OF STORMS LAST WEEK…THE RIVERS ARE EXPECTED TO CREST SOMETIME FRIDAY MORNING AS THE STALLED FRONT MOVES OUT OF THE AREA.

FORECAST RAINFALL AMOUNTS FOR SOUTHEASTERN MINNESOTA AREA ARE FOR TWO INCHES TODAY…ANOTHER INCH OR TWO TONIGHT…AND TWO TO FOUR INCHES THURSDAY. IN RESPONSE…THE CEDAR AND STRAIGHT RIVERS ARE EXPECTED TO REACH MINOR FLOODING STAGE TONIGHT…THEN RISE SHARPLY THURSDAY…THEY ARE EXPECTED TO CREST SOMETIME FRIDAY MORNING AS THE STALLED FRONT MOVES OUT OF THE AREA.  THE CANNON AND ZUMBRO RIVERS MAY REACH MINOR FLOODING STAGE EARLY TOMORROW MORNING.  THERE IS A CHANCE OF SOME THUNDERSTORMS WITH LIGHTENING AND REDUCED VISIBILITY DUE TO TORRENTIAL RAINS AS MAIN THREATS. STREET FLOODING MAY OCCUR AS STORM SEWERS BECOME OVERWHELMED. RAINFALL TOTALS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

…THE FLOOD WARNING HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL 2200 CDT THURSDAY MAY 14TH FOR THE ZUMBO RIVER, CANNON RIVER, STRAIGHT RIVER, CEDAR RIVER AND THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER BETWEEN RED WING AND LACROSSE AS A SECOND STRONGER FRONT MOVES IN THIS AFTERNOON.

rdr4THE CLOUDS WILL BREAK THIS MORNING AND ALLOW SIGNIFICANT WARMING BEFORE THE NEXT FRONT MOVES INTO THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON AROUND 4 PM.  THIS FRONT WILL BRING WITH IT A MODERATE CHANCE OF SEVERE STORMS ALONG AND NORTH OF I-90.  ADDITIONAL RAIN WILL STRAIN ALREADY SWOLLEN RIVERS.  FLASH LOODING IS EXPECTED.  ADDITIONAL FORECAST RAINFALL AMOUNTS FOR SOUTHEASTERN MINNESOTA AREA ARE ONE TO THREE INCHES.  IN RESPONSE…THE CEDAR AND STRAIGHT RIVERS ARE EXPECTED TO REACH MAJOR FLOODING STAGE TONIGHT…THEY ARE EXPECTED TO CREST SOMETIME FRIDAY MORNING AS THE STALLED FRONT MOVES OUT OF THE AREA.  THE CANNON AND ZUMBRO RIVERS MAY REACH MAJOR FLOODING STAGE EARLY TOMORROW MORNING.  THERE IS A CHANCE OF SOME THUNDERSTORMS WITH LIGHTENING AND REDUCED VISIBILITY DUE TO TORRENTIAL RAINS AS MAIN THREATS. ISOLATED AREAS MAY SEE DESTRUCTIVE WINDS.  STREET FLOODING MAY OCCUR AS STORM SEWERS BECOME OVERWHELMED. RAINFALL TOTALS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

1500 A severe thunderstorm watch is issued for all the counties in the Southeast region of Minnesota.

1713-Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for Olmsted, Dodge, Mower and Fillmore Counties until 1800.

1800-A severe thunderstorm warning is issued for Goodhue and Wabasha counties until 1845.

1825-Multiple vehicle accident occurs due to reduced visibility between Zumbro Falls and Lake City at the intersection of US 63 and County 15.
